Turkey has become a key trading partner for France and Europe over the years, especially for the motor industry. With two sizeable international airports in Istanbul and a competitive national airline (Turkish Airlines), Turkey does not lack air connections to France or Europe.
Air freight to Turkey – Documents needed
You may have customers in Turkey and need to send urgent shipments to Istanbul? If so, what details and documents do you need to gather for a hassle-free delivery?
Export checklist for Turkey:
- Exporter’s EORI number
- Commercial invoice
- HS CODE and goods description in English
- ATR - not mandatory, but be aware that the consignee may demand it on arrival and that it is not possible to obtain a visa in retrospect
- Certificate of origin stamped by the Chamber of Commerce
Note: the ATR does not substitute the certificate of origin. Turkish customs may randomly demand the certificate of origin, wherever the goods may come from.
Definition - What’s an ATR?
An ATR is a certificate used for the movement of goods which is needed to benefit from the free circulation or the preferential agreements to export goods from the European Union into Turkey.
Urgent shipments to/from Turkey?
Air Time Critical® specialises in emergency air freight and has developed unique expertise: We organise emergency air shipments to and from Turkey for our customers working in equipment and motor manufacturing. Express pickup of pallets and parcels is usually arranged from Bursa, Gebze or around Istanbul within 2-3 hours of the customer’s call. Express cargo is then put on a plane the next morning at Istanbul airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen airport (SAW) and arrives at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) the same day. On arrival in Paris, the cargo is delivered straight to the French consignee as soon as customs are cleared. It is worth noting that customs clearance can be arranged at weekends under certain conditions.
